Bouvaelt-Blanc Reduction

In Bouveault-Blanc reduction (simply known as Blanc reaction), an ester is reduced into a primary alcohol using absolute ethanol and sodium metal. This method of reduction has ability to selectively reduce ester to aldehyde which can further reduce to primary alcohol.
